Green Day & Open Gym information

The Lake Braddock Boys Basketball program will be holding Green Days three days a week from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between August 28 and November 2. In order to participate in Green Days, a player must fulfill the same requirements for participation as an in-season athlete. This means that each player must have a completed VHSL physical on file with the Athletics office, as well as having completed player and parent concussion tests online. The link to the concussion tests is below:

The schedule above for Green Days is subject change on short notice due to gym availability.

JV Tryouts

Tryouts are

November 6 - 8

Try-out selection Criteria can be found here http://www.lakebraddocksports.org/main/teamfiles/id/2372/seasonid/4143734

In order to TRY-OUT, student-athletes must hand you a “PURPLE TRY-OUT CARD” and an Emergency Care Card.

In order for students to receive a PURPLE TRY-OUT CARD from our Athletic Trainers, they must

  • Have a Current VHSL Sports Physical Form (http://www.vhsl.org/doc/upload/smac-ppe-20160404.pdf ) filled out by a doctor, with the physical completed May 1, 2016 or LATER for this 16-17 school year.  This must be turned in once per year to the Activities Office – once on file with us, it is good for any season or green days this school year.
  • Complete AND have ONE parent/guardian complete the Concussion Education Program(https://www.fcps.edu/activities/student-athletics )  This must be completed once per year.

We will have dedicated PURPLE CARD handout times as the season approaches – they can check onwww.lakebraddocksports.org or the Morning Bru for more information as the time approaches.  They can also receive the card from our ATC’s any time in the Training Room (when our ATC’s are here).  If they have already received a purple card from a fall sport, they only need to come by to pick the card up again and use for winter tryouts.

Coaches keep the cards until tryouts are over.  At that point, they turn in a pile of cards for athletes who made the team, and a pile of cards for those who did not make the team.  This creates a MEL for the team.  If any athletes did not make the team and want to try out for different winter sport, they would then come back to the training room to get the card back in order to try out for another team, giving that new coach their card.

COACHES DO NOT ACCEPT ANY PHYSICALS– Students must turn them directly in to our ATC’s.
