ANNANDALE HIGH: 3
The Bruins lost to very good and red hot Annandale Atoms team 3-0. The Atoms came into the game 11-3 with a recent win over #6 in the region Yorktown. The Bruins fought very hard and the games were tight at times, but the Atoms found a way to win all three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-15.
On their senior night, the Atoms were led by junior Stephanie Shultis who controlled the court and played great for the Atoms.
The great effort by the Bruins was led by 3 players. Danielle Ager (#8) hit .125 on the night and provided great energy and heart on the court. Logan Russell (#13) did a great job defensively and came away with 1.5 blocks. Logan also was efficient on offense as she hit .300. And finally, Imani Hudson (#4) had 5 kills and a career best 21 digs in the 3 games.
Other standout performances were had by Tara Fialkow and Emily Lavery. Fialkow had 5 kills, 8 digs, and a 2.15 serve receive score on 13 attempts. Lavery had an outstanding defensive game with 13 digs.
The game cost the Bruins home court advantage in the district playoffs which start up next Monday. The Bruins will have to travel back to Annandale to play the atoms again. The winner of that match will qualify for regionals and move on to the 2nd round of the district tournament.
The Bruins finish the regular season 5th in the district with a record of 3 wins and 4 losses. They finish with an overall record of 10 wins and 7 losses.
