Match Notes:  With our number 6, Anikait Dhond out, it put us at odds and we were down in singles 4 matches to 2.  Dustin and Kyle #1 doubles duo won a fantastic match against Aiben (top 2 player in conference) and his partner Mike Oelschlager winning in three tough sets with a second set tie-breaker that they managed to win with the closest of margins.  Kyle and Dustin went on to win a fast and furious third set 6-4 and brought us to only 1 match behind with two doubles remaining.  After darkness fell around 8:20 pm, we found ourself searching for another court at 4 matches for WestPo and 3 for Lake Braddock.  The last two doubles matches were knotted at #3 in second set at 2-3 and having lost the first set and 1-1 in the 3rd and final set of our number two doubles.  Tony, with a record of 9-3 this season as a freshman began finding his rhythm and just when they went up a break and starting taking charge of their #2 doubles match; our #3 lost a few games in a row to go from 5-5 to 5-7 and lost the 5th match game of the day after 5 hours and 30 minutes.  We fought hard, but I believe if we would have had our #6, the team would have managed a tight but successful victory.  Congratulations to the Lake Braddock Boys Varsity team going 12-4 on the season and being one match from the State Championships.  Dustin and Kyle are in the regional doubles final next Wednesday at Mount Vernon around 5-5:30 PM.  They have had a great season winning against #1 Robinson once and losing once.  They have managed outstanding victories in all their other doubles this season with a doubles record of 11-1 including the regional tournament and a singles record of 7-3.  Thanks to our fans and parents who spent time cheering for us this season and providing snacks/drinks.
