The Bruins opened their season today at home vs. the Woodson Cavaliers, winning 6-3. With the courts tucked out of the wind, weather proved decent for singles. Yoo led the way for the Bruins, with Justus and Truong following not far behind. Em fought a tough match at 4, but in the end wasn't quite able to make up for the games lost in the middle of the set. Filling in for the Bruins at 6, Brendan Lorn put forth an excellent effort with solid serves and groundstrokes, winning 10-5.
As doubles started and the sun lowered, temperatures turned chilly. Yoo & Truong were able to keep the action warm on court, both well in sync at 1 dubs. They were relentless at the net and worked the court well. Teasley & Lorn at 3 showed prowess with their groundstroke placement and volleys at the net. Justus & Em, at 2 dubs, struggled early on, with Woodson getting control of things quickly. Down 4-1, they pushed back and mounted their comeback effort, but ultimately fell short 6-4. Overall, a good starting point for the Bruins, who travel to TC Williams tomorrow in hopefully warmer weather.
